The clients had reservations about buying thishouse because of its ‘80s asymmetrical contemporary style and beige colors, but when Curtiss showed them sketches of what could be done, the clients put their trust in their architect and purchased the house. Inspired by the stately homes of the client’s hometown, Clayton, Missouri, CurtissByrne’s design, dramatically changed the appearanceof this house into classical Adams Styleby adding a portico, gable, dormers, dentils, newPella windows and exquisite interior moldings.Even the existing brick veneer was removed and replaced with an oversized red brick. Details such as “spider web” munt bars on the arched window, real hinges on the dormers, and copper ice breaks on the roof
