CHESTERFIELD BROOKHAVEN ADDITONS

Brookhaven Entry Court.JPG

Multiple additions phased over several years transformed this 1950’s Ranch into a stately manor. The first phase was a 985 sq. ft. Master Suite Addition which expanded an existing bedroom and added a new luxury bathroom, walk-in-closets, an additional bedroom and a lower level work-out room. Subsequent additions included an expanded foyer and dining room, a new front portico, the addition of second floor bedroom and bathroom, a workshop, and a large detached garage connected to the house with an arched masonry Porte Cochere.

By staging the design and construction, the clients were able to spread the cost out of several years. One of the challenges for the architect was to keep each addition in proportion to the existing house with the goal of an overall uniform style. Adding large additions to each end of an already long linear residence presented another design challenge. Curtiss’ solution was to break up the horizontal roof line with new vertical elements which took the form of turrets and two-story gables.
